Macy’s and Mattel are two of the biggest brands that made waves in Web3 with their metaverse and Non-Fungible Token (NFT) projects. This is a testament to the power of blockchain and the utilities that the technology can provide.

On the Web3 gaming side, titles such as Star Atlas, Voiders, Vulcan Forged, Splinterlands, and Delysium made some significant updates. Meanwhile, NFT and metaverse projects making the headlines include Floki Inu, Doge Pound, and The Sandbox, among others.

From Art Basel Miami Beach to Floyd “Money” Mayweather, some of the most prominent names in art, sports and entertainment are trying to get a piece of Web3 action.

  • High-end department store Macy’s has launched the “Parade Metaverse Experience,” to commemorate its 96th Thanksgiving celebrations. The initiative will allow supporters to vote on five NFT projects that will be featured on the Macy’s Parade balloon in 2023 (NFTG).

  • Toy manufacturing company Mattel has launched its own NFT marketplace “Mattel Creations” on the Flow blockchain. The platform will house some of the company’s most iconic intellectual property (IP), in the form of digital collectibles. Mattel is best-known for brands such as Barbie and Hot Wheels, to name a few (NFTG).

  • Upcoming space MMO game Star Atlas has announced Part 1 of “Flight of the Titans,” which will kick off on November 23. The event will see the launch of three Titan class in-game NFT ships. The spacecraft models are as follows: Pearce T1 (MUD), Busan The Last Stand Mk. VIII (ONI), and Fimbul ECOS Superphoenix (ECOS) (TW).

  • The city of Miami is set to take center stage with its upcoming blockchain summit dubbed “MiamiWeb3,” from November 28-30. The event features discussions and other speaking engagements focused on Web3’s present and future. Guest speakers include crypto proponents such as Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and Senator Cynthia Lummis, to name a few (CT).

  • Multipronged Web3 platform Vulcan Forged has appointed former executives from established video game brand Electronic Arts (EA) and blockchain tech company Immutable. Joining the team are Chris Bowden (COO) and David Daumas (CMO). Both professionals hold over a decade of experience in the industry (NFTG).

  • The makers of first-person shooter (FPS) game Voiders have announced that the project will now enter a new phase of its development. Some of the team’s upcoming initiatives will focus on releasing more quality games, fostering a stronger community, and creating more earning opportunities for players (DJ).

  • NFT trading card game Splinterlands is holding the 216th installment of its Art Contest this week. The next competition will feature Tower Defense-themed submissions. Accepted art categories vary from digital art to paintings, comics to sculptures and everything in between (ST).

  • Decentral Games, a metaverse game on virtual world Decentraland, has formed a partnership with Web3 portal OKX on November 22. The joint project will give away 30 World Cup NFTs to the winning participants (TW).

  • Web2-Web3 interface EthSign has announced a partnership with open-world FPS game Delysium. According to the e-signing platform, they will utilize their technology to “empower Delyisum’s ecosystem,” which can be made possible through “providing secure & automated solutions for token registry, management, and distribution” using EthSign’s automated investment tool TokenTable (TW).

  • Upcoming autobattler game Wyndblast has announced that its Open Beta 2.1 is now available. Included in this release is the dedicated Launcher and second map of the PvE campaign. Basically, the Launcher will automatically update the Avalanche-based game for future releases, eliminating the need for update links (TW).

  • Sword & Magic/Yulgang Mobile creator Longtu Korea’s subsidiary Tigon Mobile announced its second Mystery Box sale for the AAA MMORPG project Bless Global. Dubbed “Mystic Falls,” the new offering will be available on NFT platform PocketBuff. Additionally, the game’s Public Beta Test will run from Nov 30 to Dec 14 (YF).

  • Shiba Inu-inspired cryptocurrency Floki Inu has partnered with Web3 portal OKC to launch a project that allows supporters to mint free “Football Cup” NFTs. OKC’s exchange will list $FLOKI if enough followers will mint an NFT. Additionally, the collaborative effort will also give away free NFTs and a prize pool of over $2,162,600 (TW).

  • NFT collection Doge Pound and AMGI Animation Studios teased its much-awaited “full OG collection,” which, according to the team, is shaping up to be a Pixar-quality 3D offering. Kicking off to hype up the project is a “creator challenge.” The competition will give away OG Doge Pound NFTs to the winning participants (TW).

  • VoxoDeus, a collectible 3D NFT project, has announced the launch of its multiplayer avatar for popular metaverse game The Sandbox. Basically, VoxoDeus NFT holders will be able to use their avatars within all multiplayer events and seasons on The Sandbox (TW).

  • Tezos blockchain has launched an interactive NFT exhibition at Art Basel Miami Beach dubbed  “Performance in Code: Deciphering Value in Generative Art.” The event will also feature a Speaker Series that will focus on art and NFTs (FF).

  • Undefeated boxing kingpin Floyd Mayweather’s exhibition match with ComedyShortsGamer YouTuber Deji Olatunji was streamed in the metaverse earlier this month. The event, which took place in Dubai, UAE, was operated by entertainment platform MetaVerseBooks (F).

  • Hollywood producers join creators and Web3 experts at the upcoming Philippine Blockchain Week, which will run from November 28-December 4. Among the prominent figures who will grace the stage at the convention include Batfilm Productions producer David Uslan and pop culture cable channel E! Entertainment co-founder Larry Namer (CNN).

  • According to reports, crypto exchange FTX’s epic collapse made Ethereum blockchain’s validators wealthier due to a surge in maximal extractable value (MEV). Basically, MEV is the foundation of crypto’s trading operation and users running the blockchain profited from the optimized order of transactions (CD).

  • Web3-based social video platform Cheelee and its sister Web2 mobile app NUTSon, launched a $200 million support program for affected crypto exchanges. Investments will be funneled to Roman Alekseev. The European crypto millionaire holds a $500-million investment portfolio, and is the founder of Chelee and NUTSon (CT).

  • Mobile-focused blockchain Celo has formed a partnership with Ethereum software company ConSenSys to utilize its Infura infrastructure. This feature will help builders solve scalability issues. Moreover, the new offering will allow them to deploy their projects built on development environment Truffle (CD).
