The Web3 universe is already filling up with exciting stories in November, and we are only just starting. This month is shaping up to be a promising time for various projects and entities in the blockchain.

Companies like Catheon Gaming, GameStop, Immutable X, RealFevr, and Visa have increased their stakes in the space as of late. Moreover, the fledgling industry also saw well-known creators Richard Garfield (Magic: The Gathering), Justin Roiland (Rick and Morty), and K-Pop idol Hongki (FT Island) enter the space with their individual projects.

In addition, games such as Blockchain Brawlers, NFL Rivals, STEPN, Synergy of Serra, and Thetan Arena, among others, also made some buzz today with a slew of updates.

Let us take a look at the most recent developments in Web3.

Major Blockchain Stories 

  • Portuguese Web3 startup RealFevr has raised €10 million (around $9,881,400) to build an ecosystem for sports digital collectibles. The company’s past Non-Fungible Token (NFT) drops featured superstar athletes such as Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, and Zlatan Ibrahimović, among others (BIC).
  • Zug, Switzerland-based association the Open Metaverse Alliance (OMA3) recently launched at the Web Summit tech conference in Lisbon, Portugal. OMA3 is composed of Web3 and metaverse entities such as Alien Worlds, Animoca Brands, Dapper Labs, Decentraland, and The Sandbox, among others (BW).
  • Richard Garfield, creator of iconic collectable card game Magic: The Gathering, launched a PvP game for NFT project Blockchain Brawlers. Basically, the Tyranno Studios-developed title is a battler game built on the WAX ecosystem (CS).
  • Animated comedy show Rick and Morty’s co-creator Justin Roiland’s recently launched his NFT collection “Art Gobblers.” The project accumulated $14 million in trade volume, merely hours after launch (CD).
  • As the 2022 World Cup in Qatar approaches, financial services corporation Visa announced plans to auction off five soccer-themed NFTs. In partnership with crypto exchange company Crypto.com, the project aims to raise funds for UK-based charity Street Child United (F).

Web3 Gaming News

  • Autobattler/idle game Crabada announced the release of Battle Game V.1.1.3. The latest update introduced Arena Shop, as well as Battle Quest, and Battle Speed Boost features (M).
  • On Halloween, GameFi/breeding game Chikn Game launched “Eggnite,” which the team touts as the “world’s first launchpad for NFT gaming.” The latest offering will present three new playable digital asset collections (M).
  • Upcoming deck building card game Synergy of Serra is setting the stage for its much-awaited crate unlocking event. Built on the Polygon ecosystem, the project will reveal the contents for “Transcendent Crates” holders on November 6, 2022 (TW).
  • Play-to-Earn arcade/mini-game Arc8 by GAMEE is giving away 29,342 $QUIDD (worth over $1,200) to all G-Bot owners. The event consists of two “Master Tournaments” that will run from November 5-6 (M).
  • Battle royale/fantasy game Thetan Arena’s “Spookyrena” is set to hold its lucky draw contest on November 3. Winners will receive a PlayStation5 video game console, as well as 10 vouchers for popular streaming platform Netflix (TW).
  • Blockchain-focused game dev company Mythical Games recently shared the official trailer for Free-to-Play title NFL Rivals. The project is an arcade-style 9-on-9 American football game set for release in 2023 (VB).
  • Island farming simulator game Coral Island’s developers Stairway Games warned players about a recent scam that involved fake accounts of the project. To victimize users, the scammers also set up a spoof Discord server, as well as an Instagram page (RPS).
  • Gaming optimized blockchain Oasys announced that it has formed an alliance with Web3 gaming guild Yield Guild Games (YGG). To promote blockchain gaming growth in Japan, the partnership will provide developers access to networking opportunities and marketing resources (MB).
  • Immutable co-founder Robbie Ferguson said in an interview that his company onboarded more Web3 games in Q3, than the rest of the company’s lifetime combined. Immutable is the blockchain-focused company behind ecosystem Immutable X (TC).
  • NFT platform Mozart raised $3 million in a pre-seed funding round. The company will use the capital to build a platform that will help game developers to integrate Web3 gaming experiences in an easier way (MF).

Metaverse and NFTs

  • K-Pop star Lee Hongki (aka Hongki) recently released a new song on GameFi/SocialFi platform Muverse. Hongki’s music – which were minted as NFTs – immediately sold out an hour after its launch (BW).
  • NFT marketplace Voice is hosting a panel titled “NFTs: A Photographer’s Friend or Enemy?” at the upcoming PhotoVogue Festival 2022 on November 19 in Milan, Italy. The event is the 7th installment of the fashion photography festival (PRNW).
  • Move-to-Earn game STEPN creator Satoshi Labs launched its own NFT marketplace called MOOAR. The new platform allows users to obtain sneakers for the M2E project, as well build and sell digital assets (CD).
  • Kandama, a social enterprise that supports indigenous Ifugao (a tribe from the northern Philippines) women, has partnered with Filipino-led blockchain company Tetrix. The partnership aims to launch an NFT collection featuring ethnic fashion pieces from the mountainous Cordillera region (ABS).
  • Blockchain-focused gaming and entertainment company Catheon Gaming announced the upcoming launch of its own Catheon Metaverse. The ecosystem will serve as a players’ hub for all games on the Catheon Gaming ecosystem (CT).
  • NFT scam investigator “ZachXBT,” recently exposed the modus operandi of a scammer hiding under the nickname “Devil.” According to Zach, the racketeer has amassed $5 million in NFT scams since October 2021 (NFTG).
