The wealth of projects making significant moves today shows how vital Web3 gaming is to the development of the nascent space.

Our latest roundup features some favorite titles, as well as upcoming projects. Web3 games such as Axie Infinity, Decentral Games, Momoguro, Raramuri, Shatterpoint, and Sipher Odyssey, among others, are making some notable progress as of late.

Moreover, players have to redeem 300 candies to claim the skin until December 15 (TW).

  • Sweden-based clothing company H&M recently announced its “Innovation Metaverse Design Story” project. Celebrities such as Pom Klementieff, Irina Shayk, and Lucien Laviscount, among others, represented the collection at the recent Fashion Awards in London. Set to go on sale on December 8, the clothing collection falls under the brand’s Innovation Stories platform. The said initiative focuses on promoting “sustainable materials, technologies and production processes” (HM).

  • Established video game company Epic Games has introduced a new feature called “Cabined Accounts.” The latest update allows the creation of limited accounts, which are designed to prioritize the safety of children. The child-friendly offering is now integrated in Web2 titles such as Fortnite and Rocket League. Previous reports suggest that the protective feature could also safeguard kids when exploring the metaverse (VB).

  • Popular breeding NFT game Axie Infinity has announced that it has partnered with some “incredible” Axie content creators to “leak” a number of new card adjustments for Season 2. The team said that there will be “dramatic changes to the cards,” which were designed to make the “(Axie) Origins experience more immense” (TW).

  • Top cosmetics brand Maybelline New York recently sponsored a digital fashion competition in the virtual world. The makeup giant’s project is called “Fashioning Masculinity.” Essentially, the project is a continuation of Maybelline’s collaboration with metaverse avatar platform Ready Player Me. Additionally, sister brand L’Oréal Professionnel is also a part of the venture, as they provide their extensive knowledge in hairstyles (WWD).

  • Action/RPG game Shatterpoint has announced its upcoming launch on Solana-based NFT marketplace Magic Eden. Built on the Polygon blockchain, Shatterpoint is produced by game companies Estoty and Block Games. The project is a skill-based Play-to-Earn game where players enter the Shatterpoint world to survive against countless savage creatures (TW).

  • Ethereum-based looter/shooter game Sipher Odyssey is one of the upcoming projects selected for GAM3 Awards’ “Best RPG” category. Basically, Sipher combines Multiplayer Online Battle Royale (MOBA) and Action Role-Playing Games (ARPG) elements. According to its makers, the game is “set in a dream-like universe of alien worlds, vibrant characters, and dangerous mysteries” (TW).

  • Gaming ecosystem Sparkadia announced that its brawler/MOBA game Edenbrawl will have its first ever Early Access Weekend. The on-chain event  will run from March 3-5. The team stated they are “PUMPED to reveal what’s been in the oven for so long.” Moreover, the project will share more details on how to obtain keys, as well as other updates and reveals (TW).

  • Web3 game dev platform The Mirror has secured $2.3 million in a pre-seed round led by venture capital firm Founders Fund. Other companies that pledged support for the project include Konvoy Ventures, Abstract Ventures, Florida Funders and Palm Tree Crew. Essentially, The Mirror is building a Web3-game developer platform that will provide tools for indie creators (NFTG).

  • Interactive animation studio Baobab Studios unveils Web3 digital collectibles game Momoguro. Currently, the company is working with blockchain game developer Immutable (the makers of the Immutable X ecosystem) to accomplish the project. The story-driven game allows players to collect creatures that possess unique abilities, which they can upgrade using items, eventually turning them into more powerful “Momobeasts” (VB).

NFT News

  • KuCoin ecosystem’s investment and incubation arm KuCoin Labs has announced its support for privacy network builder LiquidFactory.io. The project raised $1.2 million with KuCoin as co-lead investor. LiquidFactory’s first product is BIDSHOP.io, which is basically an NFT auction-style marketplace. Moreover, BIDSHOP also employs game theory elements to its auction process (CS).

  • Premium NFT art marketplace Nifty Gateway announced its integration with Web3 gaming ecosystem Immutable X. According to Immutable X VP of global business development Andrew Sorokovsky, the integration will provide more than a million Nifty users access to “numerous high-profile up-and-coming AA games” along with “assets that will become even more popular in the future” (PRN).

  • NFT platform Blockparty’s former chief technology officer (CTO) and co-founder Rikesh Thapa was recently arrested and charged with fraud. US prosecutors allege that Thapa stole over $1 million in crypto and cash from Blockparty’s parent company. Apparently, the Web3 entrepreneur left the firm in 2019 after refusing to return the said amount. At that time, the money was stored in his bank account for “safekeeping” (R).

  • Entrepreneur and podcast host Tim Ferris has launched an NFT project called “The Legend of Cockpunch.” Billed as an “emergent long fiction,” the collection features 5,555 images of anthropomorphized rooster characters, each possessing unique traits and weapons. Priced at 0.3 $ETH ($369.14 as of this writing), Cockpunch has already sold out, with the secondary sales hitting $3.3 million worth of $ETH (DC).

Into the Metaverse

  • Popular cryptocurrency Shiba Inu’s “SHIB the Metaverse” virtual world announced a “special Holiday Fireside chat.” The upcoming session will focus on the project’s achievements in the past year, along with some surprises (and prizes). In addition, the team will give away a free SHIB: The Metaverse Silver Fur Land to one lucky participant (TW).

  • Metaverse sports events app Raramuri has introduced a couple of added features that aim to provide users with better, safer, and more social experiences. The two additions include the “Live Track Feature,” which brings a plethora of functions to the table. Secondly, the project also added an SOS Feature, a tool that allows users to request assistance if ever they get lost in an unfamiliar location (AW).

  • GIGIL Philippines, an independent Filipino ad agency, has announced its expansion plans. Celebrating its 5th anniversary, the company aims to broaden its base in major North American cities, and into the metaverse as well. Additionally, GIGIL also launched a new division called “Metama.” At this point, the virtual world platform already has projects with telecommunications company Smart for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as well as collaborations with local NFT art projects (BM).

Around the Blockchain

  • Messaging app Telegram has introduced a new Web3-dependent feature. With the help of blockchain technology, users can now sign up for the service without a SIM card. Basically, subscribers can go to Telegram’s TON blockchain-based Fragment platform and purchase an anonymous number. However, the ecosystem’s native token Toncoin ($TON) is needed to obtain the needed digits (XDA).

  • Web3 dev platform thirdweb, in conjunction with crypto exchange platform Coinbase, has unveiled plans to launch a Gaming Kit specifically made for blockchain game builders. According to thirdweb CTO Jake Loo, the development kit provides devs and gamers with the tools to “unlock incredible potential” as well as create “more seamless experience” that will encourage the production of more titles (NFTG).

  • Multi-platform Web3 browser Opera Crypto has teamed up with Alteon to build the Alteon Launchpad. The project is an ecosystem where creators can upload media and create NFTs. According to the company, the platform is an “all-in-one ecosystem for content creators whose mission is to democratize the creative process” (MBD).
