In early October, upcoming collectible/racing game DeRace, teased several developments on the Non-Fungible Token (NFT) sports project. So far the team has stayed true to their promise of delivering a slew of updates on the game’s mechanics, economy, and design.

“DeRace Game-Changing October Announcement Calendar. October is going to be massive for the #DeRace community as groundbreaking product updates & cutting-edge ecosystem additions built over the past few months will finally come to the light,” the team tweeted on October 3, 2022.

Let’s take a look at the project’s new developments.

Gameplay Updates

New Hippodrome Base Concept

On October 7, the team announced its 5th hippodrome concept. Although the presentation was still a little bare, it already evoked the location’s overall feel.

“This is just the first look into the concept that we are working with. There’s still much to do: complete the hippodrome environment, finalize all the necessary elements and decide on the additional details such the lighting and any other environment features,” the team stated.

In-Game Racing Teams

DeRace is introducing the racing team feature as part of the second feature batch launch. The new gameplay mode will offer various options such as team roles and other team-dedicated activities within the game.

The team utilized the community’s input, together with their advisors to create the “basic logic of how the racing teams are going to work within the metaverse.” Additionally, their next steps will focus on the new feature’s specific details before working on the back-end side.

Jockey Mechanics

Part of the first feature batch launch includes NFT Jockeys’ inclusion into next generation races. The first Jockeys are generic versions without the integrated mechanics yet. However, the team is already working on the functionalities for the Jockeys, with some back-end progress on the horizon.

Races With/Without Equipment

One of the intriguing features that DeRace will introduce are the two types of races wherein participants may take part either with or without any equipment (such as horse wearables and NFT Jockeys). Moreover, the next-level races with NFT assets will include Jockeys and fully-equipped horses.

Equipment Mechanics

In early October, the team focused on improving NFT horse equipment. This includes additional designs for wearables, as well as mechanics that will allow “much smoother usage.” For example, players can now unequip their horses with ease, saving them time in-between races.

Furthermore, the team also has plans to introduce other features such as the ability to create equipment bundles, for players who wish to equip their horse in one go.

Private Testing (Part 2)

Testers will get another chance to explore an improved version of the DeRace platform. The upcoming feature launch will showcase upgrades on the mission, Chest and Key, and NFT burn mechanisms.

The next private testing will present updated game economics, as well as the integration of the finalized NFT equipment. According to the team the NFTs in the next phase will bear new names, colors, and even complete mechanics.

$DERC and Other Updates

On October 6, 2022, popular crypto tracking site CoinMarketCap offered DeRace horse NFTs as part of its Diamond Reward Loyalty Program. The promo gave away $2,000 worth of NFT horses.

About DeRace

DeRace is an upcoming horse racing game currently being built on the Ethereum blockchain. The project’s ecosystem leverages NFT technology to provide players ownership of in-game assets, primarily the horses. Basically, horse owners can use their NFTs to breed and profit through races. Moreover, they can also own hippodromes and host races for added revenue.

The game’s NFT horses are based on real-life breeds: the French Trotter, the Arabian Horse, and the highly-touted American Quarter Horse. Possessing unique traits, the horses are gifted with varying rarity, performance, cool-down time, and value.

On October 5, 2022, DeRace premiered its video trailer titled “The New Era of Horse Racing Begins.” Check out the video below:
