Blockchain-focused game studio Revolving Games announced on September 9, 2022, the completion of its $25 million funding round. The company plans to utilize the capital to create more “cutting edge” Web3 games.

Investors that joined the fundraise include Pantera Labs, Gala Games, Animoca Brands, Polygon, Dapper Labs, Kenetic, Sarmayacar, and DWeb3 Capital.

The studio will deploy the fund over the next two years to “develop scalable and fully decentralized gaming experiences.” The company also plans to promote a “Free-to-Play” gaming model that people of all walks of life can enjoy.

“With 2 studios and a team of 100+, we’re committed to building high-quality AAA titles that are fun and lasting. Revolving Games tweeted. “We understand that any successful game starts first with constructing vast online worlds, and we’ve brought in key hires and strategic investors to help us do that.”

Battlestar Galactica

Revolving Games’ first project is a Battlestar Galactica-themed NFT game. It is based on the popular sci-fi series of the same title. The project is a collaboration with game developer Gala Games and media/entertainment conglomerate NBC Universal.

Battlestar Galactica belongs to the short list of sci-fi TV shows that are deeply embedded into mainstream consciousness. Ranked behind some of the most iconic space-driven titles such as Star Trek, the series experienced a resurgence in 2004. Subsequently, the re-imagining of the original 1978 version introduced the franchise to a new generation.

According to sources, the Battlestar-themed blockchain game will combine facets of turn-based strategy and Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) games. The team has been working on the project for the past eight months, with plans to reveal more details about the game in Q4.

Skyborne Legacy

Currently under development on the Polygon blockchain, Skyborne is a “social world exploration and trading Role-Playing Game (RPG).” The project is Revolving Games’ first original Intellectual Property (IP) that the company is planning to publish on its own.

According to its creators, adventure games such as Nintendo classic Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing are the inspiration behind Skyborne. In addition to that, the game will have a social network that allows players to join guilds, craft items, and conduct raids, among others.

Skyborne Legacy’s official announcement is on October 4. The reveal will take place during the game’s live demo and first Ask Me Anything (AMA) session. It will also include the release of the game’s teaser, roadmap, and whitepaper.

On September 12, Skyborne Legacy announced that they are giving out limited edition “Pioneer Badges.” Members are required to join the game’s newly launched Discord server to obtain the Badge. The offer is valid only for a week, beginning on the promo’s announcement date.
