On August 24, Planetarium Labs announced the launch of an in-game NFT collection called D:CC (De:Decentralized Cat). The project is a cat-themed Profile Picture (PFP) series that holders can use in Nine Chronicles.

D:CC is slated to issue a total of 4,000 NFTs on the 21st of September. 2,800 of the NFTs are allotted for direct sales (2,498 for Pionyan Program No. 1 and No. 2, and 302 for Paw-picked). On the other hand, 1,000 NFTs are allocated for Binance Sales, and 200 for the Planetarium team.

Binance Labs Backing

In mid-January, Binance Labs invested in the Nine Chronicles to support its development.

“We believe that the team’s deep gaming expertise and the game’s sophisticated graphics will bring them great success in the blockchain gaming space,” Binance Labs Investment Director Chase Guo said.

The partnership pushed plans to expand the team and its product suite, as well as its user base. Furthermore, Planetarium Labs aims to introduce core features to the game. This will include cooperative gameplay, duel-token economy, mobile client, and guild DAO support.

The strategic investment also involved the creation of an asset bridge to the BNB Chain (formerly known as the Binance Smart Chain). The partnership also offered exclusive in-game NFT skins to Binance’s NFT marketplace.

More Funding in July

On July 7, Planetarium Labs raised $32 million in Series A funding supported by Animoca Brands, Samsung Next, and WeMade.

The company invested the capital in the creation of tools for community-driven gaming and player governance. This is part of their goals to help dev studios deliver better Web3 gaming experiences. Additionally, Planetarium Labs channeled the resources to improve the Libplanet ecosystem and further foster community growth.

“We strongly believe that the future is massive decentralized worlds in an open metaverse, which is why we are delighted to support Planetarium Labs’ vision of community-centric blockchain games that empower players with creative freedom and full digital rights,” Animoca Brands Co-Founder and Executive Chairman Yat Siu said.

Investors included in the fundraising round are multifaceted innovation group Samsung Next, tech giant Kakao’s investment arm Krust Universe, and Play-to-Earn game Mir4’s publisher WeMade.

Chapter 3: The Cave of Jotunheim

In late July, Nine Chronicles introduced Chapter 3: The Cave of Jotunheim, which serves as the gaming ecosystem’s expansion. The new set of gameplay offers a new currency and more staking opportunities, as well as battle competitions, and a community support program, among others.

Supporting Stella Fantasy

Planetarium Labs may be having a fruitful year, but the company is also spreading the blessings to other Web3 entities. In June 27, Planetarium and Animoca helped game dev company Ring Games raise $5 million to develop their live-action NFT RPG project Stella Fantasy.

About Nine Chronicles

Nine Chronicles is an MMORPG where players can engage in various campaigns in PvE mode and forge their path in the game’s vast fantasy world. Participants can acquire NFTs of armor and weapons, as well as explore, establish camp, craft items and mine for tokens.

Nine Chronicles Gold ($NCG)

Nine Chronicles Gold ($NCG) is the game’s primary currency. Players can use $NCG to craft items, trade with fellow users, challenge other combatants, or upgrade characters.

In the Nine Chronicle’s early stages, players can enjoy the game with minimal need for the token. However, as the game progresses, $NCG will be more necessary when players have grown more powerful.

In due course, participants will be able to stake the token to earn items such as potions, or sold for profit.

NCG is not directly obtainable through exchanges. Users need to purchase Wrapped NCG ($WNCG) from the exchange first and then transfer the tokens to Nine Chronicles using the game’s Onboarding Portal. After this procedure, $WCNG will automatically convert to $NCG.

As of this writing, $WNCG is trading at $0.09999, with an $11,978,492 market cap, and a 24-hour volume of $611,206 (per CoinMarketCap).
