More Fashion in the Metaverse – GUCCI Opens the GUCCI Vault in The Sandbox

Players of The Sandbox will be able to navigate through “Gucci Vault Land”. During their journey, players will experience the magic of Gucci’s experimental concept store where past, present, and future co-exist. The Gucci Vault Land is created by Vault, the fashion house’s experimental concept store. The vault will be open from October 27th to November 9th.

Back in February 2022, iconic fashion house, Gucci entered the metaverse by buying a plot of digital land in The Sandbox, which is a virtual world on the Ethereum blockchain. Gucci therefore became the first luxury brand to have its own space within the digital real estate platform which would help attract the Gen Z market.

The Vault is the product of Creative Director Alessandro Michele. It represents a careful curation of rare vintage Gucci pieces, the dialogues between contemporary creators and the House, in addition to the enthusiasm for NFT artworks. The goal of this effort is to educate the Web3 community on Gucci’s heritage via gamification.

Gucci Vault Land is free to enter!

The experimental concept store Gucci Vault Land will be available for players to experience the Vault at 360° through a play-to-know narrative. Players will be able to complete activities for a chance to win an exclusive reward and SAND which is the utility token of The Sandbox built on the Ethereum blockchain.

For two weeks, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the colorful world of Gucci. They will complete quests to earn Gucci Vault Boxes that unlock raffle entries and win SAND & exclusive digital collectibles. The prize pool consists of 500,000 SAND, and 10,000 lucky players will win.

GUCCI and Digital Assets

This marks GUCCI’s first experience into the metaverse. However, GUCCI has had some experience with digital assets, for example, it already has multiple non-fungible token (NFT) collections under its belt. Also, in March 2021, Gucci auctioned a non-fungible token inspired by its Fall/Winter 2021 collection hosted by auction house Christie’s, in addition to a collaboration with SuperPlastic for SUPERGUCCIs.

Furthermore, in May 2021, the brand unveiled Gucci Garden on Roblox to mark its 100th anniversary, allowing the platform’s then-42 million users to purchase collectibles. In the same spirit, Gucci released a digital version of the Dionysus bag on Roblox, which sold for 350,000 Robux, or roughly $4,115.

In November 2021, Morgan Stanley said that luxury branded NFTs could become a $56 billion market by 2030 and could see “dramatically” increased demand thanks to the metaverse.

Another Fashion Showcase in the Metaverse in December

The fashion community has another event to look forward to in December. During New York Fashion Week, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced it is planning a metaverse showcase in December that will include Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, Oscar de la Renta, and several other famous labels.
