Halloween is just around the corner and it’s all “treats” for Web3 enthusiasts, as one of the most beloved horror film series enters the blockchain space.

On October 18, Non-Fungible Token (NFT) platform Autograph (co-founded by NFL superstar Tom Brady), announced its partnership with blockchain game Internet Game, entertainment giant Lionsgate, and film production company Twisted Pictures. The collaboration launched a Web3 experience based on the popular horror film franchise ‘SAW.”

“We’re excited to expand our partnership with Lionsgate and work alongside Internet Game, GameStop, and Magic Eden to give SAW fans unique, gamified digital collectibles and once-in-a-lifetime in-person experiences,” Autograph Co-Founder and CEO Dillon Rosenblatt said in a statement.

Internet Game will feature the Halloween project in its third season, giving participants the chance to engage in three Saw-themed games for three days and win prizes.

Saw (stylized as “SAW”) is a psychological horror film that centers on the “Jigsaw Killer” and his torturous games. The movie went on to spawn several sequels, and has grossed over $1 billion globally. The long-running franchise is releasing its 10th installment on October 27, 2023, under the Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures banner.

“We’ve been growing the world of SAW for 18 years and are very excited about this opportunity to continue expanding to new platforms like immersive interactive gaming experiences,” Saw producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules stated. “With the latest installment of SAW coming next October, our partnership with Lionsgate and Autograph is perfectly timed to engage SAW’s global fan base in exciting new ways while introducing the franchise to a whole new audience.”

How to Play

To enter the game, players are required to purchase a SAW Games Pass. Participants can obtain the passes on the following platforms:

  • GameStop: GameStop NFT is the digital asset marketplace of the world’s largest video game retail chain GameStop.
  • Magic Eden: Magic Eden is an NFT marketplace on the Solana blockchain.
  • Internet Game: Internet Game is hosting the project and also sells Game Passes on their website.

Each pass will grant holders access to all the initial SAW-themed mini-games. Additionally, the metadata of the game passes will automatically update to reflect a player’s performance for each round.

SAW Web3 Experience

The SAW web3 experience offers three games of gory goodness. Similar to the horror movie, the project requires participants to survive the mini-games with the most remaining health, and get a chance to win various prizes.

Rewards that await the winners include:

  • Exclusive SAW NFTs
  • Blue chip NFTs such as Doodles and Mutant Ape Yacht Club
  • On-set tour of the upcoming SAW film
  • Winners’ names will appear on latest SAW film
  • Trip to the immersive “SAW: The Experience” in London

Here are the SAW-inspired mini-games and their schedules:

  • Acid Bath (October 31)
  • Blood Bucket (November 2)
  • Incinerator (November 4)
