Welcome to P2E Analytics’ daily Web3 digest where we feature blockchain games, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and the metaverse.

Established names that made noise in the space include Crown Royal, Siemens, Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, Vayner3, and WME.

Meanwhile, Web3-based projects continue to build on the blockchain. Entities that made waves include Avalanche, Monad Labs, Nansen, Orb Labs, Overlord, Raini Studios, and Seedify. They are joined by Blur, International Women of Blockchain, Mall of the Metaverse, Miidas NFT, Mintable, Ordinals, and the Mounts. 

Lastly, games are pumping life into Web3 as of late with several developments. Titles that headlined recently include Decentraland, DeFi Kingdoms, Legends of Bezogia, Mighty Action Heroes, Snake City, Splinterlands, The Lords of Light, and The Sandbox.

Top Stories

  • Crown Royal/Vayner3: Canadian whisky brand Crown Royal recently teamed up with internet personality Gary Vaynerchuck’s Web3 consultancy firm Vayner3. The partnership unveiled a Super Bowl-themed NFT-driven experience dubbed the “Crown Royal Chain of Gratitude.” Basically, the project allows users to mint a “Token of Gratitude” NFT (NFTE).

  • Overlord: Web3 game studio Overlord has signed a deal with actor Seth Green’s production company Stoopid Buddy Stoodios. The partnership plans to produce an animated show based on characters from Overlord’s Creepz NFT collection. Other developments include a signing with renowned Hollywood talent agency WME (now known as Endeavor), as well as a partnership with brand consulting company West Brand Lab (HR).

  • Seedify: Web3 gaming-focused launchpad and incubator Seedify has launched its steampunk-inspired NFT collection ‘The Mounts.’ Slated for minting on February 20, the project features 10,000 genesis vehicles. Holders can use the NFTs for user-generated content metaverse ‘Seedworld.’ Some of the digital collectible’s utilities include staking to earn $AME tokens, gated access to events, and entry to quests, among others (CT).

  • Siemens: German technology conglomerate Siemens has issued a 60 million euro ($64 million) bond on layer 2 blockchain solution Polygon. The company aims to use Web3 technology to cut “central clearing” procedures and reach out directly to potential investors, as well as reduce unneeded paperwork (CD).

  • Avalanche: Web3 data and analytics firm Nansen’s latest report reveals that the Avalanche ecosystem enjoyed a 1,500% growth in 2022. In November 2022, the protocol registered 450 million transactions, which easily surpassed the previous year’s 27 million. Experts attribute part of Avalanche’s performance to the introduction of scaling solutions known as subnets  (CD).

Web3 Games

  • Legends of Bezogia: Massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Legends of Bezogia, has launched the project’s beta 0.9.1. “Don’t miss out on the action! Sign up for your Zogi Labs account today!” the team tweeted. Newly introduced features include dueling, kissing, and new Bezogi models. Moreover, the update has also fixed several bugs regarding voice chat, special effects, and collision boxes (TW).

  • DeFi Kingdoms: Avalanche-powered RPG DeFi Kingdoms recently announced a partnership with Web3 gaming hub PlayOne Games. The team-up aims to leverage PlayOne’s established network in the Korean market, along with DFK’s gameplay and growing global audience. “Looking forward to this mutually beneficial pairing and everything it will bring,” the DFK team stated (TW).

  • Splinterlands: Collectible trading card game (TCG) Splinterlands is set to release its roadmap for 2023. According to the team, they have been “streamlining” the project’s development processes” to improve its gameplay and economy. Upcoming updates include the launch of new cards and land assets, as well as changes to market features, etc. (TW).

  • Raini Studios: Web3 gaming studio and NFT platform Raini Studios has announced the launch of its TCG project The Lords of Light’s (RTLOL) new digital collectible pack. Dubbed “7 Deadly Sins,” the collection is available on Avalanche, BNB Chain, and Ethereum. Basically, owners can build decks with the set of cards and use them for battles (TW).

  • Snake City: Snake City, an action/survival game on Avalanche, recently announced its upcoming Windows OS-supported Tournament. Players can join the in-app competition by registering their crypto wallets and purchasing tickets. Additionally, the game will feature a leaderboard to determine the top participants and their corresponding rewards (TW).

NFT News

  • Blur: Emerging digital collectible marketplace Blur has announced the airdrop of its native token $BLUR to traders of Ethereum NFTs. Following the release of the platform in October 2022, the OpenSea rival promised to reward users with tokens. Despite delays, users can now obtain the “care packages,” which Blur plans to release in three waves (DC).

  • Mintable: NFT marketplace Mintable recently released a collection of personalized NFTs in time for Valentine’s Day. “Love should last forever just like an NFT on the blockchain,” quipped Mintable co-founder and CEO Zach Burks. Users can obtain the customizable digital collectibles for free and send them to their partner’s Metamask wallets as gifts (YF).

  • Miidas NFT: Multichain digital collectible marketplace Miidas NFT recently formed a partnership with artificial intelligence (AI) company OpenAI. As a result of the team-up, the platform has introduced an image generation feature. Essentially, this will allow users to easily create their own NFT collection with the help of AI technology (BSCN).

Into the Metaverse

  • The Sandbox: Metaverse platform The Sandbox will hold a ‘Voxel Madness LAND Sale’ on February 20. To kick off the campaign, the virtual world game launched a LAND sale raffle on February 14. Brands slated to participate include Alien Worlds, Cut the Rope, Dogami, Habbo, and Tap Nation, to name a few. All in all, 385 LAND plots and 45 premium LAND parcels are set for sale, with 12 ESTATES slated for auction on NFT marketplace OpenSea (TW).

  • MEW: MEW, a company that aims to create the “world’s largest motion catalog,” is holding “Day ONE: The 1st Metaverse Event for Motion Creators” on virtual world platform Decentraland. The event will run from February 16-17. Featured motion creators include Azul,  Bboy Ronnie, Brian Friedman, Kento Mori, Kim Kong, Nicole Flores, Pau Pulido, and Reza Jackson, to name a few (TW).

  • Mall of the Metaverse: Emirati holding company Majid Al Futtaim has announced the launch of its ‘Mall of the Metaverse’ during the World Government Summit. The virtual mall – essentially Dubai’s first – is currently in its initial development stage. Prominent brands found in the shopping center include Carrefour, Ghawali, Samsung Store, and VOX Cinemas, to name a few (GB).

Around the Blockchain

  • International Women of Blockchain: Washington DC is hosting its third annual International Women of Blockchain (IWB2023) conference. In time for Women’s History month, the event will run from March 22 to 24. Focused on empowering women in Web3, the summit will feature a job fair, virtual world experiences, and NFT exhibitions, among others. “We are creating a space for women in Web3 to be heard and have their contributions recognized,” IWB chief creative director Olayinka Odeniran stated (CT).

  • Orb Labs/Bain Capital: Blockchain interoperability company Orb Labs has secured $4.5 million in a Bain Capital-led seed funding round. The startup firm will utilize the funds to release its products and grow the team, among others. According to Orb Labs co-founder Richard Adjei, the team aims to provide “gas-efficient, fast, and trust minimized messaging protocols” (CD). 

  • Monad Labs: Web3 tech startup Monad Labs has raised $19 million in a seed funding round led by Dragonfly Capital. The company plans to use the funds to build its own Monad blockchain. In essence, the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible protocol will employ a proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism (CD).

Web3 Content Creators

  • Brycent: Content creator Brycent took to Twitter to state how onboarding gamers to Web3 “becomes easier when the game is incredible.” One of the Twitch streamer’s followers stressed that onboarding people to blockchain “becomes difficult” due to the tech’s complexities. Brycent agreed with the commenter, adding that “the concept of keeping blockchain in the background as much as possible is how we get there.”

  • Cagy: Web3 gaming influencer Cagy recently joined a live session with Yung Show of the “Yung Content YouTube channel. Yung Show describes himself as “The Unofficial Sensei of the Culture mastering youthfulness, contentment and NFTs.” Essentially, the session touched on NFT gaming and what it will take to jumpstart the space.

  • Spike: Spike has partnered with battle royale MMO game Mighty Action Heroes. As a result, the prolific content creator is giving away three ‘Might Action Bears’ NFTs to lucky participants. Built on the Binance Smart Chain, the title is developed by Mighty Bear Games, a Web3 game company composed of veterans from Disney, EA, Lucasarts, and Ubisoft, among others.

  • Stache: The latest edition of “The NFT Beat” with crypto gaming YouTuber Stache and co-host JChains touched on Bitcoin Ordinals NFTs. The pioneer cryptocurrency has been gaining attention recently after a new protocol called Ordinals started transcribing NFTs on Bitcoin’s protocol.
