Finland-based game studio Quicksave built the new offering, showcasing Axie’s goal to nurture an ecosystem dedicated to developers and builders.
“This is a major step as we build Axie to be the premier Web3 Brand & IP, backed by a community of missionaries and infinite experiences,” the team announced. Adding Raylights to the Axie universe is crucial as we seek to create an IP that attracts all types of gamers, and the specific game loop also acts in symbiosis with the existing experiences offered to Axie players.
Land owners can click here to play the game. Here’s what we’ve learned about the project so far.
Axie Infinity: Raylights
Raylights is a mini-game set in the Axie Infinity universe. The new feature offers land cultivation, decoration, and discovery. According to the game’s lore, Raylights “occurs at the dawn of axie civilization on Lunacia.” At this point, the Axies must find the “key to plant cultivation,” which will aid in establishing territory on the new home planet.
The game’s cycle of activities starts off with landowners preparing different combinations of minerals. They will mix the minerals into soil layers (various plot types also have various recipes/codes). The next step is to pair the soil with an Axie, which will in turn put some seeds and grow them into plants.
As players progress, they will unlock new minerals, giving them the ability to grow more types of plants. In total, Raylights has 300 unique plants.
“This vast plant diversity allows for your creativity to flourish as you seek to design new aesthetic possibilities for your plot,” the team stated. “In many ways, Raylights will cater to those of us with a green-thumb and a knack for finding patterns.”
According to the team, the decoration and cultivation features are designed for gamers who either prefer a more laid-back set-up, or take a breather from the intensity of Arena tournaments.
“To add a bit of friendly rivalry between players, we’ve launched Raylights with two competitions. One for unlocking world-firsts and another which tests your design/creative chops! We believe these competitions are complementary and activate players of all archetypes, the team said.
About Axie Infinity
Axie Infinity is the most popular Non-Fungible Token (NFT) metaverse game in the space today. Vietnamese game studio Sky Mavis developed the game, and launched it on Ethereum-linked sidechain Ronin Network.
Employing elements of Play-to-Earn, the game allows players to collect and mint NFTs of axolotl-like digital pets called “Axies,” which they can breed and battle against other opponents.
Axie Infinity Shards ($AXS)
Axie Infinity Shards ($AXS), is an ERC-20 governance token which holders can use to vote on decisions that will shape the ecosystem (click here to know more about governance tokens).
As of this writing, $AXS is trading at $11.67 with a $969,973,024 market cap, and 24-hour volume of $50,967,390 (per CoinMarketCap).
Smooth Love Potion ($SLP)
Smooth Love Potion ($SLP) is Axie Infinity’s in-game currency. To earn the token, players must win in Player vs Environment (PvE) and Player vs Player (PvP) gameplay modes. Holders can also sell $SLP via secondary markets, or used as payment in select real-world establishments.
As of this writing, $SLP is trading at $0.003264 with a $139,791,157 market cap, and a 24-hour volume of $8,550,602 (per CoinMarketCap).
Axie’s homeland Lunacia is divided into tokenized plots of digital property. Landowners can use these assets as homes and bases of operation for their Axies. Moreover, players can also upgrade the plots using various in-game resources and crafting ingredients.
Using Axies, landowners can find resource nodes on the land plot. Interacting with resource nodes can help participants find $AXS tokens and other resources. Basically, resources will spawn nodes all over Lunacia. Landowners are granted “first rights” to all resources spawned on their property.
