Gunfire Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Philips – members of the team are referred to by their first names only – talked about the team’s goals, and even touched on some game fundamentals for the newcomers in attendance.
Covering several topics including gameplay and tokenomics, the AMA shared valuable game information for more than an hour. Here’s what we learned from the AMA:
Launched on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) as “Gunfire Hero,” the original game implemented a model that “didn’t turn out well” according to Phillips, prompting them to develop a new version on Avalanche.
Learning from the mistakes of its Play-to-Earn predecessors, the team re-designed Gunfire AVAX as a game focused on providing players with great experience. “Gunfire AVAX is totally a new model and now it’s free to play,” Phillips stressed.
Emphasizing the need to prioritize gameplay over earning, Phillips cited the lasting impact of traditional games such as League of Legends, that were never centered on get-rich-quick schemes. He also expressed his desire to make the game accessible and relatable even to non-gamers, along with plans to introduce new modes and more events.
“So what we’re focusing on is getting the players to enjoy the gameplay first, so you can see that the game is fun. It’s a casual game where players can just dive into immediately without having to read anything or having to do anything,” Phillips explained.
The game dev CMO also spoke about the success of the Endless Tournament, which he believes is a time-tested formula that games use to encourage participation and stir excitement within the community.
“So the tournament is going to be something that is already in the mindset of every player. They want to prove that they are good and when they get a reward, it boosts their desire to participate in the tournament,” Phillips said.
